Apart from the latest graphics hardware, the best way to experience a game is to have a surround system plugged in. There are various applications on the market which simulate surround sounds, but most of them are not very accurate. Razer Surround offers an excellent surround sound experience, even if you are using a pair of simple headphones. With its advanced algorithms, the software can simulate high quality surround sounds with pin point accuracy, which can be tailored to individual users.

Razer Surround is part of a larger collection of free utilities, which are designed to enhance your gaming experience. The software is compatible with all modern Windows platforms and it can be installed in a few seconds. The setup wizard will not hinder you with any complex settings, but you will have to create an online account or sign into an existing one.

It is sufficient to run the software and let it work in the background to simulate surround sounds, but your experience can be much better if you bring up its user interface and make a few configurations. The interface consists of several sections, in which you can select different sound sources and devices, make various adjustments and take advantage of an equalizer. All you have to do is click a series of check boxes and move a few sliders.

Before making any settings, you should take a minute to calibrate the virtual surround system. Razer Surround makes this operation quite easy. The software will guide you with clear instructions through five steps. After selecting an audio source and a headphones set, you will have to perform a series of sound tests. Razer Surround will play a sound from different directions and you will have to align it with a target.

You can test the surround system by playing a demo sound, on the user interface. The sound enhancement can be turned off and back on, so you can hear the difference. Additionally, the surround system can be re-calibrated at any time, by going through the same operation.

Pros

The software can simulate a high quality surround system. It allows you to calibrate the system according to your own needs. You can also make a wide range of miscellaneous configurations.

Cons

There are no obvious drawbacks to mention. Even if you have an ordinary set of headphones, Razer Surround will bring a top of the line virtual surround system on your computer.
